PETER HORT CAMPAIGN EXHIBITS STRONG

FINANCIAL SHOWING SINCE FOUNDATION IN MAY

Contributions to Hort campaign surge past $50,000 in first two months of activity

New York, NY - United States Congress candidate Peter Hort announced today that his campaign raised over $52,000 from a variety of contributors in its first quarter of activity, which ended on June 30, 2003. Since the campaign's establishment in May 2003, New Yorkers from all walks of life have come forward to volunteer for the campaign and to offer their support.

Even though the Hort campaign is only two months old, contributions and other forms of support have been flowing in on a daily basis. "I think that New Yorkers are tired of Jerry Nadler's empty, part-time representation, which is based upon fear, three-second sound bites and pandering to special interests," says Hort. "People do not ask much from their elected representatives but what they ask for counts," continues Hort, "They want a congressman they can count on to reflect their concerns, values and beliefs, and a congressman who is more concerned with proposing a strong agenda for New Yorkers rather perpetuating his own political survival. I think it is fair to say that we can expect more from our congressman. I am enthusiastic and proud that the people of this District have been so supportive of our efforts."

The breadth of support for the campaign has been telling, with financial donations and logistical support coming from sources in all major political parties. As Hort states: "People have come to me tired of Mr. Nadler's tactics of attacking others who propose solutions rather than putting forth his own solid agenda for New Yorkers. Many have communicated their frustration to me that, as his record demonstrates, Jerry Nadler is more concerned with his own reelection than working with his fellow representatives and those in the Administration to make the lives better of those he represents."

"The support for this campaign is truly amazing," says campaign manager David Miller. "The support is reflective of the fact that the people of this District are tired of the weak representation they currently have and want someone who has the conviction, dedication and integrity to work tirelessly to represent their interests." Indeed, notes Miller, "Peter Hort is the kind of leader who will develop innovative solutions to our most pressing problems and is the kind of leader who can and will work with other members of Congress and the Administration to ensure that the needs and concerns of New Yorkers are heard."

The Hort campaign has made clear that it is designed to appeal to those from all political parties who want a stronger representative and a true voice in government. "I am a New York Republican who believes that I reflect the convictions and desires of most voters who I believe are less concerned about party labels and more concerned about such key issues as the economy and job creation, education, national security, the environment and health care. I respectfully ask Democrats in this district to put party affiliation aside and consider my ideas with an open mind. Consider the fact that if a Republican representative in this District does not earn your vote every single day, he or she would lose the honor of representing you in very short order. I pledge to you that if elected, I will earn your vote every day."
